Whatcha Drinkin? Weekly Beer Review.

We’re in the midst of winter and experiencing some of the coldest temperatures of the year so far. As a result, I’ve been gravitating towards porters and stouts. Beers that can provide a little warmth on an otherwise cold day.

This week I picked up a 4-pack of beer called Off The Ground, brewed by Eagle Park Brewing Company. Eagle Park has locations in Milwaukee and Muskego and their beers can be found in most grocery and liquor stores in the area. Off The Ground has a 6.5% ABV, and is described as “a creamy milk stout, brewed to feature flavors of Stone Creek Coffee’s 3 volcanos dark Guatemalan roast with its distinct profile of sweet dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and citrus.”

This beer is fantastic. It goes down smooth and is easy to drink. I did not pick up the citrus, and the coffee flavor is subtle and not overpowering like it can be in other beers brewed with coffee. You can taste the chocolate, but it doesn’t over sweeten the beer. Overall, the flavors blend really well together to give you a smooth, easy drinking stout, perfect for drinking on a cold Wisconsin winter night. I’m also a fan of the pint sized can. When you just want a beer after you put the kids to bed, a pint is the perfect amount. I highly recommend giving this beer a shot, and as always, drink responsibly!
