Arts and Crafts with Teacher Toni - Edible Starburst Slime
In this edition of Arts and Crafts with Teacher Toni, we share a recipe for slime that’s not only fun to play with, but safe to eat.
Project - Edible Starburst Slime
Materials Needed - One cup of individually wrapped Starbursts, 1/4 cup of cornstarch, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, cutting board, small bowl, double boiler, or a pot with a bowl large enough to sit on the pot without touching the water (we used the latter method)
Instructions - First, add 3 cups of water to the pot and bring it to a boil (the amount of water may vary depending on the size of your pot). While the water heats, unwrap each Starburst. When the water comes to a boil, take the glass bowl and rest it on the pot. Pour the Starbursts into the bowl and let them melt while continuing to stir. Let the mix cool until you are able to handle it without burning yourself. While that’s cooling, mix the cornstarch and powdered sugar into a small bowl. When that is mixed, spread it out on a cutting board. Place the cooled Starburst mix on the cutting board, kneading it into the sugar mixture (not all sugar mix may be absorbed). With that, your slime is ready for playtime, and snack time. Enjoy!
